Stop
-start is a system available with newer vehicles that automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped then automatically restarts the engine when the driver lets off the brake. This system was designed to save fuel.

According to a 2004 study published in the Journal of SAE, if you let your vehicle idle longer than seven seconds, you are wasting fuel. In this article, they took two identical vehicles and equipped one with a stop-start system. After driving the same route in different levels of traffic, the vehicle with stop-start saved 4-8.7% in fuel economy.
